Location
This is the well-known Transfagarasian road in Romania, defined as one of the most beautiful roads in the world.Time
I took the photo after sunset. It was quite cold and I had to do push-ups during the 7 minute exposure to keep warm.Lighting
This was the last photo of the day. It was dark enough for me to take a 7 minute exposure. The road was illuminated by the headlights and brake lights of three cars that were coming down the curves of the road.Equipment
Nikon D750, lens: Nikon 16-35, tripod Manfrotto, remote trigger, warm jacket and gloves.Inspiration
This was a long planned shot. With a group of friends, we took a position above the famous Transfagarasian road and waited for cars moving along the road. When it got dark enough there were only three cars left in the parking lot heading down the road and this was the last chance for a good shot.Editing
I usually do a lot of processing on my photos, but this shot was almost ready straight out of the camera. A little darkening of the mountain on the left, contrast, shadows and done.In my camera bag
Since I do a lot of hiking in the mountains, I like to carry a minimum of gear. Nikon D750 camera, landscape lens 16-35 f4, ND and polarizing filter, light tripod and possibly another lens 50mm at f 1.8 or macro 100mm depending on what I expect to shoot.Feedback
To be able to capture such a shot you need as long an exposure as possible. Don't worry if you shoot with low ISO settings and a closed aperture to achieve a long exposure.
