The photo is taken at home, on the kitchen table. Everything is pre-ordered and adjusted. I bought the mushroom from the supermarket, I found the snails walking around and letting them go to the terrace. It took a lot of patience to wait for the snail to get on the stalk and ready :)Time
It's taken at noon, but it does not matter in this case.Lighting
I used a combination of natural light from two windows and a flash in softboxEquipment
Nikon D750, Tokina 100mm , f2.8. macro lens, flash SB700, softboxInspiration
I wanted to take a picture of how the snail climbs on a mushroom, but in the forest the mushrooms were not so photogenic. As I was shopping with my wife in the supermarket, I saw this beautiful mushroom and I came up with the idea of arranging everything and taking the photo with controlled lighting. In this way, I had a much higher speed so the snail does not came blurry.Editing
The mushroom is stack of 5-6 frames with different focus point. The snail is one frame because it moves. The nice bokeh I added in the processing. In my camera bag
When I shoot macro on the out of home I have D750 with Tokina 100 macro, flash SB700 with homemade diffuser, and a tripod.Feedback
If you want a great macro shot you must know your camera well. But I think the excellent lighting is key for successful macro photography!
