I wanted to test out my new 50mm 1.8 prime lens so I grabbed my gear and headed out into the night. Having already scoped out a section of the nearby sidewalk that had been wet for days I made my way over to my chosen destination. Not wanting to overcomplicate things I set my aperture at 1.8, the exposure to 1-40th of a second and let the camera set the ISO. I held the camera down and clicked the shot knowing full well with an aperture setting of only 1.8 and the spot focus pretty much centered I knew it would be focused somewhere along the curb. Ironically enough I went home, imported the image, created a Lightroom Mobile folder and started editing on my iPod ... in the dark! I posted it on IG and fell asleep. When I woke up in the morning I was shocked to see that it was a hit. The irony is that had I edited this photo with the lights on more than likely I would have settled on a much brighter edit. Because I was editing in the dark the image actually appeared brighter than it was to me at the time.
