Behind The Lens

Location

West Dennis Beach, Cape Cod Massachusetts

Time

It was first light around 6:30- 6:45 AM

Lighting

I was lucky to be in the right place at a spectacular right time Sunrise's first cresting light

Equipment

A Google phone

Inspiration

I was just back from a trip and needed to go to the post office to mail something for work. It was too early and The post office wasn't open so I took advantage of an opportunity for catching sunrise at the beach instead of going home.

Editing

Almost always, I tweak my photos Often times I will play with contrast and up the black just a little perhaps up white or highlights or both depending on which one compliments the moment best If I'm going to change the color at all instead of saturation I up the blues and skin tones for a more realistic intensification of the picture. This particular photo was pretty fantastic from the start because the scene was fantastic. Hard to ruin that shot but I did lean way down to change the photo perspective and elongate the sun's refection off the water

If you set your alarm early enough you can get a sense of whether it's going to be a spectacular sunrise just from the way the light comes in your window. If you then get yourself motivated and out of bed and get in the right place at the right time spectacular photos can happen. Nature's gift to those willing to Go for It!
