Location
This photograph was taken in my home studio in South Florida. The model is a singer for the cruise company we both work for. I've always though she had a very interesting face with wonderful contoured angles. The vibe of this shoot was very different for her as is very feminine and "girlie".Time
This was taken at about 8pm. It is all studio lighting.Lighting
This is a 4 light set up. There are two soft boxes at the 10 and 2 o'clock position to her face, a large 'O' ring directly in front of her and I also had a small continuous lamp behind her to separate her from the background.Equipment
Canon 80D, Canon 18 - 135mm zoom lens, Craphy soft boxes, Inkeltech 'O' ring, MeFoto A1350 ball head aluminum tripod.Inspiration
I am constantly trying to improve my skills as photographer and wanted to try something different from the usual standard "head shot' look and feel. The main inspiration for this particular shoot was gothic steampunk fashion.Editing
I used Photoshop Express on the iPad to convert the image to B&W as well as to bring up some of the highlights and blacks. In my camera bag
I always have two bodies, Canon 80D and then Canon Rebel T3i as a backup body. All of my lenses: 18 - 135mm, 75 - 300mm, 100mm Macro and 8mm Fisheye. Some filters, ND2, ND4, Polarizer etc... Grey Card. Batteries. Tripod, always! Lens cleaning materials.Feedback
Hair & Makeup and Lighting! Lighting is THE most important thing to get right so take time to do so. Know what you want to achieve in advance and KNOW YOUR GEAR! I also helped that I know this girl quite well and she was willing to try things for me. This is not her usual kind of style or vibe but she was willing to go for it as she is comfortable with me.
