Do you know why IPA is called India Pale Ale?

It was brewed for the British troops in India, beer does not travel well in barrels due to the sediment and this due to the heat caused the beers to go off/bad. So the brewers removed any sediment and provided a lighter beer that would travel on the ships to India.
