This image was created inside Grand Central Station in NYC on a recent trip out there with a group of friends from all over California.Time
This was taken mid day in between trains coming and going about the city, there were so many people there I had no clear view of the famous clock, so instead I focused on something a little different.Lighting
The lighting was a mix between natural and the halogen bulbs giving this capture the golden glow that it has, I did not want to take away from what the eyes would see.Equipment
This image was created handheld using the canon 5dmk iv @ 1/500 iso/5000 paired up with my sigma 105mm at f/2.2Inspiration
I have never been a fan of taking the same image as a hundred people before me so when I saw a friend of mine doing a mini timelapse I started watching his screen and mapped out the intervals in my head as how long between shots I had to catch this. I took two shots the first I had taken to dial in my settings, then I manually dialed in my focus between frames. Patiently waiting for the right moment to push the shutter. Then it happened, the bokeh aligned and the moment was captured.Editing
I did very minimal post work using LR, I had purposely taken the image a little under exposed because I was using a higher iso. Pulling exposure and shadows up in post helped bring it to what it had become. In my camera bag
My gear constantly changes depending on where I am going to be at the moment. My go to is my 5dmk iv sigma 24mm 1.4 and the 105mm 1.4. Along with my lee filter set. Other times I carry my slik tripod 15/24/45 and 105mm along with camera. Got to stay ready at all times for the unexpectedFeedback
If I could give any advice at all, I would have to say patience.... Don't ever rush a shot...... ever. Let the image come to you, thsts all part of the process.
