Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in Moscow, where I with my wife spent a New Year hollidays. I was looking for a chance to make some shoots of a fantastic New year/Christmas decorations of Nikolskaya street. Bad chance - Nikolskaya was owercrowded. So I had to walk around, looking for another location for shooting. Near the TSUM Department Store I have found this frame - new year decorations were mirroring in the water.

Time

It was Christmas evening.In russian orthodoxy they do celebrate it after the New Year because of two different calendars(old style and new one)

Lighting

It was evening, "blue hour". The lights and decorations were on, but it was not completely dark yet.

Equipment

Nikon D610, AF-S 24-85mm f/3.5-4.5G ED VR. ISO1000, f5.6,1/80 sec.

Inspiration

I've seen a lot of great photos of New year decorations of Nikolskaya street from different great photographers and challenged myself if I could make something close to their works.

Editing

Usually,I do not owerprocessing my photos. Just some minor corrections of lights and darks in raw converter.

In my camera bag

Normally, I have Nikon D610 body, Nikkor 24-85 VR, Nikkor 50mm 1.8 prime and Tamron 2.8 70-200G2 in my bag. When nessesary, I add a Godox TT685 flash, tripod and other stuff,it depends form the purpose.
