Each year a multitude of monarchs migrate to Santa Cruz, California. Due to their tropical nature, they must travel to warmer places to ensure that they do not freeze at any time. Early in the morning and again in the evening you will see them congregate in to protected groves of eucalyptus and cypress trees. Once the temperature reaches 55°f they will begin fluttering about.
