Location
This photo was taken in the parking lot at Antietam Battlefield in Virginia. It was such beautiful light at that moment.Time
It was taken about an hour before sunset. The sun was beautiful, slowly setting on the tall grass.Lighting
The sun was glistening over the grass and shining through her hair. It was a perfect summer evening. Sometimes in the Maryland, Virginia area, we have days of grey skies. We lucked out with a warm and bright sun that set into golden light.Equipment
Nikon d810, Sigma art lens 135mm . I generally don't trust myself to shoot wide open but this was shot at 1.8, 640 SS, and 400 ISO.Inspiration
I was heading to the tall grass and fields with my good friend and her children. We often shoot together and use her gorgeous kids as models. This was her oldest daughter who is always so patient to model for us. She is a natural beauty who so easily connects to the camera.Editing
I love black and white photography and especially the vintage tones of sepia. I always start in lightroom and go into photoshop to finish. I usually hand edit but do have actions set up to speed up the process. In my camera bag
I currently have the Nikon d850 with the sigma art lens 35 and 50. I also have the Tamron 70-200. I recently sold the sigma 135. My plan is to transition to mirrorless sometime this year or next.Feedback
Don't wait for the perfect location. Take advantage of the light and the moment. Even a parking lot can be beautiful.
