Location
the photo was taken on "cima Larici", upon Garda lake, Italy. I love mountains and nature and this is one of my favourite spotsTime
I climbed several times on this top and I never found the good light conditions, but that time i thought "this is perfect". it was so cold, i arrived there very early, i waited two hours before the perfect conditions. then i run down, i was very tired and i had to go home. It was an amazing day, i won't forget it.Lighting
I wanted to make this magic scene, the lights of the city to me offer a lot of calm, and the cars do not make the noise anymore, everything calms down, you just feel the wind. I wanted to transmitt the tranquility I felt at that moment, to make you feel like I felt.Equipment
I used a tripod, my 60d canon, remote control, rocks to balance my tripod and my 14mm samyangInspiration
I was preparing this shot for about a month. I've been 4 times on this top to study the sun and city light conditions. At the end the fourth time it was the perfect turn, the lights lit up as calculated, there was a lot of wind and the lake seemed to move like a river, thinking they were only 30 seconds of exposure.Editing
I personally do not like to distort reality, this photo tells exactly what I saw in person, there are two exposures, one for the sky and one for the lake, to show exactly what I was facing, I really like to highlight some details like rocks Or the waves of the lake, but I do not like to alter them. This photo is the pure representation of nature in front of a boy who remains shy and decides to photograph this show to keep his memory. In my camera bag
In my backpack I always carry my 14 mm samyang f2.8 and my tripod. At the time it was my only lens, because having a small budget I hadn't money for one more expensive. Now I have bought a canon 24 / 85mm f3.5 / 4.5 that I always carry with me, a lens that gives much satisfaction if you photograph landscapes. i think it's not true that you must have expensive equipment to have fun with photography, photography it's personal and it's the expression of emotional feelings.Feedback
I do not feel like giving advice since I'm just a guy who loves the mountain and photography is not my job, I'm very inexperienced and many times I rely on videos and tutorials of people much more competent than me. I can say that photographing landscapes is not simple, I learned this alone, I can say that it takes a lot of patience, to make the right picture can take more visits of the same place, I have been there 4 times because once It rained and the others snowed and once there was a bad light. For this, you must have time and, above all, you have to be able to plan your hikes, see the weather, see the movement of the clouds and the light. Light changes, and landscape photography without light has nothing special, it remains empty.
