This photo was taken just on a dirt track, but what I liked about the spot was the long grass around it. This was in Queensland Australia.Time
This was taken in the afternoon as the sun was giving off that nice glow,. Which made great shadows and colour.Lighting
I used just natural sunlight and being in the afternoon where you get that nice golden hour effect. This tied nicely into the retro theme.Equipment
I used Nikon 7000 with 85 mm 1.8 Prim lens, ISO100 F3.2Inspiration
Im lucky to live near the bush, and thought of how as kids we used to make cubby houses in the trees. I saw a teepee in a magazine and the idea just came from that . So i raced to the store bought all the bits and pieces and went about making my own teepee, I had a heap of old cameras and just love the retro feel they give. As kids today dont see these old cameras thought why not have some fun wtih them. So the idea just flowed from there. I just let the kids play and waited to see what they came up with, I sweeten the deal with lollipops and waited. I had my camera ready to catch those candid moments, without them posing. The result is this photo. I feel it shows what a great friendship they have. My favourite photo of all time. Im so glad everyone likes it.Editing
Yes! I love playing with colours, I used Lightroom and a couple of different presets . Which gives the photo a real warmth and retro feel.In my camera bag
I now use Nikon 750 , which I love. I have a 50mm,85mm, 35mm and 70-300mm ,I also have a speedlight and spare xd cards cloths, batteries and tripod. Which all fits into my backpack...and my tablet.Feedback
I think what makes this so special is there friendship, it’s real ! Having that connection shows in heir faces. Taking kids photos is hard the best of times, trying to keep their attention , this just worked! Helps if you sweeten the deal with lollipops and old cameras. My advice would be to let them just play and keep snapping, kids have their own magic!
