Behind The Lens

Location

Photo was taken in the Maasai Mara in Kenya during a morning drive

Time

About 10 am in the Morning

Lighting

The light cloud cover provided a nice soft light for this shot.

Equipment

Canon 5d mkIII with the Canon 500mm F4 is II and a 1.4 teleconverter

Inspiration

We had been watching this Cheetah taking a nap with her 2 cubs and I was able to capture this shot as she was getting up from her nap. Our Driver had moved us into a spot that put us in a prime location to get this shot.

Editing

Simple curves adjustments to add contrast.

In my camera bag

Canon 5dmkiv and 1dxmkii 100-400mm 4.5-5.6 ver.ii and 500 F4 are always in my bag when photographing wildlife.

Feedback

When traveling to Africa it is all about finding the best Guides. The guides are key to getting you in the best spot to photograph from. Also find a trip that only has 3 photographer per vehicle.
