Location
This photo was taken in Maratea, in Italy.Time
After an extremely full on day, I had decided to return to our hotel room, which overlooked the sea, for a rest and to hopefully catch a sunset. The sunset turned out to be one of the most moving and beautiful sunsets I have ever seen. I stood on the balcony of the hotel room and watched and photographed the sun slowly setting behind the mountain, Monte San Biagio.Lighting
The lighting was just perfect as it was, provided solely from above.Equipment
I shot this photo with a hand held Olympus OMD E-M10 MarkII with 14-150mm lens.Inspiration
After visiting the top of Monte San Biagio, during the day and seeing the enormous 22 meter high statue of Christ The Redeemer, I thought a sunset over this beautiful bay would be spectacular and it was.Editing
I haven't done any post-processing to this photo, because I like it just the way it is.In my camera bag
On this trip to Italy my Olympus and 14-150mm lens was all that I carried, but I also have a Nikon 5500.Feedback
My advice would be to be patient!! As the sun set slowly behind the mountain it gave the mountain a luminous quality and as I stood and photographed a small fluffy cloud moved in closer to the statue, which I believe made it even more of a spiritual experience.
