This photo was taken from my front deck, in rural Nova Scotia. I'm still in the learning process with photography, and I am very proud of this shot.Time
I took this shot around 8pm in the evening, July20th, 2016. It was taken just as the "Full Buck Moon" was beginning to come up over the treeline.Lighting
I am very lucky to live in rural nova Scotia, where the night skies are clear and everything around us is very dark. We live inland quite a bit, and so there isn't any interference from street lights or light from other houses or buildings. The night sky here is amazing! This shot was taken on a beautiful clear night when the only light in my yard was coming from the moon itself.Equipment
I actually took this shot free hand using my Canon Power Shot, I was quite pleased with how well it turned out. I'm very much an amateur and I see so many moments that I want to capture, so I get very excited when I feel like I have done so.Inspiration
My Husband!! He's always encouraging me to learn more and try more. He's the one that actually set me up on Viewbug in the first place. The night I took this picture, he was the one that told me that the full moon was coming up through the trees and that I would probably get a good shot if I went out at that moment. I think he was right, this was the first pic I took that night and it's one of my favorites.Editing
I don't know a lot about post-processing, but I am learning as I go. I did adjust the exposure on this pic so that the trees were more defined against the moon itself. In my camera bag
I never leave home without my canon power shot. Although I'm just a beginner, I see moments that I want to capture everywhere. I am always taking pictures...of everything!!Feedback
I try to see a moment and then capture it with my camera. If the picture gives me the same feeling I had in the moment, I've done what I set out to do. My photos are also my memories, so it's important to me that I capture the feeling of a moment and not just the image. I guess my advice is to trust your feelings, capture your moments, and don't get lost in all the technical stuff.
