Location
The photo was taken when strolling round a camping area near my home which is always bustling with birds and small insect reptile families.Time
It was a mid afternoon stroll actually trying to capture a eagle which nests around the camping area, with a small waver and tender skin the snake was coiling around a branch which was above. Unknowingly while searching for the eagles nest found the snake hanging around, The snake stared and hissed when trying to capture a click.Lighting
The mid afternoon lighting was sufficient in capturing the snake stare, the natural lighting provided the required light and drama to the picture.Equipment
It was shot on Nikon D5200 with a 55-200mm lens.Inspiration
It was a unplanned shot expecting to shoot an eagle hovering around the area found a snake coiled in a branch basking in the mid noon sun, being an unplanned visitor to the situation in I had to collect my senses and capture the snake.Editing
The post processing involved the correction of exposure a bit and some smoothening for the sharpness to smooth out the bokeh effect of the back ground and the branch. In my camera bag
I always carry my both lenses 18-55mm Nikon lens which I normally use for landscapes and the 55-200mm Nikon for longer shots and to have a depth of field effect on the objectFeedback
The major aspect in capturing a unplanned shot is to stay calm and steady and react based on the situation. In my case a trip for capturing a eagle ended with my favorite shot of a snake, the understanding of the surrounding and reflex of a photographer helps to have a perfect capture.
