Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken on one of the local beaches here in Virginia, on a summer of adventure with my family.

Time

I would say midday, when the sun was up and the wind was cool against are warmed skin, chasing the heat of summer away.

Lighting

There isn't anything special to be said about the lighting. I think it was perfect for what I was trying to capture, which was the color and ridges in the shell— thank you, sunlight!

Equipment

I was using my trusty Nikolai D3100 if I remember correctly.

Inspiration

I take photos of things that bring me joy, or capture my attention. The ridges in the half buried shell were so distinct, I couldn't help but lay on the damp sand and snag this photo.

Editing

I don't do a whole lot with my photos aside from correcting the lighting, sharpening and dehazing them where needed. This one likely received a simple process where I changed the exposure and saturation to better reflect the vivid colors from that day.

In my camera bag

Just my camera and two lenses! I'm no professional, and I don't have the funds or need to spend on more just yet.

Feedback

Beauty and creativity is in the eye of the beholder. You don't have to be a professional, and yes, anyone can take a photo. But every photograph tells a story, and every story deserves to be told. So photograph what you love, what catches your interest or curiosity, and share that story with the world.
