not hard to get a shot like this when the poor owl is tied down you can see the birds fair in his eyes and the ties on his legs shocking. Sorry mate I hope he bit you when you untried him

If you had been so kind as to read where this photo was taken, you would of realized it was taken at a raptor sanctuary, A Place Called Hope. This owl was so injured that she could not be released back into her habitat. She has jests on for her safety. So please, before you slam someone to the mat, make sure you have the correct information to do that.

Behind The Lens

Location

A Place Called Hope, Raptor Sanctuary, Killingworth Connecticut

Time

It was in the middle of the day, under shade. They are very good at "A Place Called Hope" with finding filtered light on the property.

Lighting

The main thing I used was fill flash. In the filtered light I would of had to many dark areas, Just a little pop with the diffuser on my flash.

Equipment

I shot with my Canon 7D, Tamaron 70-200, hand held. I used my flash with a diffuser.

Inspiration

I was there to bring out the beauty in these lovely and incredible creatures.

Editing

I run all my photos through Lightroom first. From there I go to Photoshop. The only thing I used was NIK Viveza.

In my camera bag

I carry a 24-70, my wide angle 11-24. The 70-200 is usually close by as well as the flash.

Feedback

Be very aware of the light. Strong mid-day light makes everything washed out. Fill Flash can help with a straw colored gel on it and your defuser. I used ISO 200 and adjusted my aperture accordingly, as small as f/14, I I used f/8 for this shot.
