Location
This photo was taken while I was on a photography trip with a good friend. This was my second visit to Babcock State Park in West Virginia. Autumn did not disappoint.Time
We were all up and at location about 45 minutes before sunrise. Breakfast had to wait, quick snack in the the hotel room. This is a very popular spot in West Virginia so it was an early wake up call.Lighting
There is nothing better than the morning's first light. Soft and warm.Equipment
I used my Canon 7D with a Tamaron 24-70 lens. It seems to be my go to lens. My trusty Manfrotto tripod and instead of using a cable release, I've killed two in water, I used the mirror lock up and the two second timer built in the camera.Inspiration
This is one of those spots, if you are willing to climb down some rocks and stand in some water, composes itself. It has it all no matter the weather.Editing
For some reason, I decided to do this as an HDR image. Then I tweaked it in Photoshop.In my camera bag
What do I carry? Currently, a Canon Mark D IV, my trusty Tamaron 24-70 and in case there are some birds in the area, my Sigma 150-600 Contemporary, cable release, either my Fesiol Carbon fiber trip or the battle axe Manfrotto, depends on what I am doing, I like the Monfrotto for its stability in water. Some snacks, water, plastic back and TP, you never know when nature will call.Feedback
Take your time doing landscape photography. Before you set up walk around and look for different and pleasing angles, never do a one or two and be done. Take both a vertical and a horizontal, you maybe surprised which one you like better. Don't be afraid to go low! Look for a different perspective.
