Behind The Lens
Location
This photo was taken on our property which is near Killarney , 30 kms south of Warwick Queensland. I had taken the dogs for a walk up the hill to check on the water trough. As I always carry my smaller sony nex 7 camera with me it was a wonderful opportunity to capture this image . I was actually sitting down with the dogs when these two heifers came to have a look at what i was doing .Time
The time of day was just on sunset.Lighting
It was just one of those images, of natural light, right time right place. The sunsets in the southeast of queensland are alway colourful, especially when you are out to town , clean air.Equipment
Hand held, sony nex 7 with my zoom lens , Tamron lens 18-200 .Inspiration
The way the light settled behind the two heifers, the fact that the far heifer blocked the sun created an even better imageEditing
Conversion from raw to jpeg, cropped slightly , slightly adjusted the white balance for the image to look as I took it .In my camera bag
If i am walking , around the property or riding a horse to check the fence line , I only take my sony nex 7 with the 18-200 lens, When i have a planned outing with my camera, i take the sony ,however my main camera is my Canon 5D lll, my favourite lens being the 24-70, then a wide angle and a 70-300. I would like to purchase more lenses oneway .Feedback
Know the countryside you live in or want to take images of , know what times the sunset or sunrises occur, check the weather, clear skies are not as exciting. Know your equipment of course, and know your subjects, I felt safe sitting on the ground, but if it were of the bull, perhaps not so safe.
