Location
This photo was taken in a lot beside my home, the fall before a house had been torn down and this flower was left behind as a reminder that someone once loved living there enough to plant it.Time
It was one of the first nice evening's of spring, my family were coming to have dinner with us but I just had to grab my camera and get a few shots in the back yard, when I looked at the empty lot next door and saw this among dead leaves, I just had to get the shot.Lighting
There was nothing special about the light, just natural early evening light as the sun was going down it was slightly overcast.Equipment
I used a canon EOS 5T, with a 35-80 lens in macro, it was hand held above the bloom, no flash.Inspiration
I was drawn to the spot of color among all the dead leaves leftover from the previous fall.Editing
being that I was new to digital photography having only 3 months using my DSLR, I hadn't yet learned how to use the editing software, so this shot is straight out of the camera. In my camera bag
It depends on what i'm shooting now days, early on I carried everything that I had which was usually way more gear than I needed, now I think about what I might expect to shoot or the venue that I will be at and only pack what i'll need, for example if I expect to see wildlife or I'll be at a sporting event I'll make sure to take my 75-300mm lens for shots at a distance, along with a 50mm or a 35mm for closer shots. I usually take a good tripod but don't always use it and always extra batteries and at least a lens cloth.Feedback
Any advice that I would have to give is ,be ready for that moment when it comes, always check your settings and keep on educating yourself in your craft, and remember your gonna make mistakes everyone does, just learn from them so you can improve.
