Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at a wedding venue. It was a family wedding but I was not the photog. I grabbed this shot before the reception.

Time

It was around 3:00 in the afternoon, it was a sunny day. I exposed for the interior of the barn even though I was standing outside.

Lighting

It was natural and ambient light

Equipment

I used my older crop sensor DSLR and I believe it was 17-40L lens no flash or tripod.

Inspiration

I was drawn to the warm glow of the ambient light of the words and also the way the barn post framed it all. It felt inviting.

Editing

I did very little post work for this photo. Maybe a little on the sliders for saturation and contrast.

In my camera bag

These days I mostly have my mirror less EOS R in my bag with the 85 1.8 on it and a godox 600 speed light along with the X1 transmitter and the 17-40 as I’ve been doing mostly portrait work and of course extra batteries and SD cards

Feedback

Any advice for capturing a similar shot would be to keep your eyes open for inspiration and expose for the feeling you want to convey. Be you and be creative, your the artist.
