Location
This photo was taken at Eastern State Penitentiary in Philadelphia on a school field trip; everything inside held stories that needed to be captured.Time
I can't remember the exact time, however I know it had be between 10am-12pm that this was taken and it was in the beginning to the middle of May of 2013.Lighting
All the lighting in this photo is natural light, whatever amount of sun was shining that day and was coming through the cracks I worked with.Equipment
The only equipment used here was a Kodak M590.Inspiration
It was my very first time at Eastern State and knowing it was a prison back in the day I had wanted to focus more on the details on the inside; less of the cells and bars, more of the numbers and "normal" things the prisoners would have done. I wanted something simple but would still tell you a short story.Editing
I did not use any post-processing, I wanted this to be as natural as possible. I prefer natural photos because then whoever is looking at the picture can see the subject for how I saw it when capturing it.In my camera bag
Since I am just starting out and don't have much equipment, I pack my Canon EOS Rebel T5 with my 18-55mm and 75-300mm lenses, Canon PowerShot SX520 HS, and my Polaroid & Fuiji Instax for when a subject really catches my attention. I will sometimes take along my tripod when I'm shooting with a slow shutter speed.Feedback
I suggest using natural lighting for a more real picture and to do minimal work with it afterwards, anytime in the afternoon would be the best time because the sun more bright but
