Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo is the photo studio of a friend of mine. Totally having fun during the photo shoot.

Time

We created this work in the morning. I wanted the model, a young talented actress, to be as fresh as possible, since I was full of ideas to shoot.

Lighting

I used a black screen and two studio lights here to match the idea and the feelings I wanted to pass to the viewer. Highlights and shadows at the right places.

Equipment

I used my favorite camera, Canon EOS 5D Mark III and the Canon best lens, IMHO, for portraits, the mighty Canon EF 135mm f/2L USM lens. Two studio lights, Visico 400, a black screen, some props and of course, lots of time to experiment and put them in a way so I visualize my idea ;)

Inspiration

The model, she was very comfortable with my ideas and I wanted to show as many types of emotions as possible.

Editing

I underlined the shadows and slightly smoothed her skin, I wanted to show slightly more mystery in the photo. And of course, the color to black and white transformation.

In my camera bag

For portrait photography, I respect my Canon EF 135mm f/2L USM lens and my classic 50mm f/1.4 for the whole body shots. They both provide good quality with my full frame camera.

Feedback

Experiment, invest more time and have fun! ;)
