Location
I shot this from my office which is on the 21st floor of a building in downtown Vancouver, BC. We have the entire floor which offers a really great 360 view of the city and North Vancouver mountains. Nothing like watching the clouds roll in and out.Time
It was early in the day. I was one of the first ones in the office and most of downtown was blanketed in this thick layer of fog. Looking east I saw the buildings poking through the fog casting those great shadows.Lighting
Natural lighting is the best. I shot into the sun which posed a challenge with glare but it was worth it.Equipment
I always carry my Canon T4i with it's kit lens: 18-55mm lens. No tripod.Inspiration
I have always wanted to capture a scene like this and was quite lucky to be in the right place at the right time...with my camera.Editing
I worked this up in Lightroom a few times but it kept coming out over-done. It was a light touch that I ended up being the most happy with. Simple contrast adjustments and some highlights and shadow tweaking. In my camera bag
I started carrying very little - just my Canon T4i and the kit 18-55mm lens. Then when I bought a 10-20mm ultra-wide angle lens that was added to my daily carry. Now I also bring my Sigma 70-300mm Zoom lens. I love my Ona messenger bag but it's got a bit of weight on it's own plus all this gear is really starting to be heavy - but I can't stand to be without those lenses.Feedback
Honestly this was an easy one. Managing the glare from the sun was the only tricky aspect.
