I'm feeling a sense of loss and deep depression when I view the shoe. As if somebody stole something from me. Amazing shot but surly very depressing. I do love the colors in this though - a great mood setter. Find a game designer that is looking for a cover for a murder mystery and sell it.

Ahahahaha, good idea! Also, it is depressing! I took that shot after walking along a Jersey beach after some unsettling medical news. It was totally a depressing walk. The rain and sand felt like little needles prickling all over my exposed skin and I could not get the clarity of mind I was hoping for by finding some solitary by the ocean. I am beyond thrilled to hear you feel it. It was not a pleasant day, indeed.

Thank you, and never! Always up for discussion and the unfolding of how an image speaks to another. Always. Otherwise I am just doing this for myself.

Of course, it's a little confusing what the author meant by this snapshot, but looks atmospheric

Location
This was taken on the New Jersey coastline. Near Asbury Park.Time
This image was taken right before dusk. It was kind of a dreary day, storms were approaching the area. I had taken off my shoes to photograph the water with ease. Once I had turned around I saw that my Chucks were being swallowed by the sand and I wanted to capture it. I lowered my phone and took the shot.Lighting
Seeing that it was getting stormier and darker by the minute there was really not much to work with. Luckily the sand makes for a beautiful reflector.Equipment
Funny thing - I did not use my fancy Canon 5D Mark II - I used my camera phone for this shot.Inspiration
I loved how quickly the weather changed while we were walking the beach. It became very windy and the ocean began to pick up. After I finished photographing the water, I turned around and saw that my Chucks were being surrounded by the sand. I loved the color contrast and decided to capture it.Editing
The DOF was outstanding for this shot - I don't think I could ever recreate it with my DSLR. For the rest I just messed with the contrast a bit and with exaggerating the front blur a tad. Also gave this piece a slight vignette. In my camera bag
Typically I don't use my phone as my camera source. I am thinking heavily now about downgrading to something that allows me to move more freely.Feedback
Capturing a shot similar to this is simple - just be ready with your camera, or in this case, your camera phone.
