Location
This shot was taken in the tulip fields of the Skagit Valley in Washington state.Time
I had been taking photos most of the morning when I came upon this barn and flower field just after noon.Lighting
The lighting is just a sunny midday light.Equipment
I used a Nikon 500D with a Nikon DX 18-55 mm lens.Inspiration
It is hard to go wrong with acres of fields of tulips. I have made numerous trips to the Skagit Valley for the tulip festival as it is always beautiful.Editing
I did remove a figure from next to the barn as I liked it better with no one in the shot.In my camera bag
I usually carry a Nikon DX55-300 telephoto, a Nikon DX 85 mm Micro lens, as well as the Nikon DX 18-55 lens. I carry and use a polarizing filter.Feedback
I recommend going to the flower fields during the week when the crowds are much smaller. The weekends can be frustrating due to the number of people. Most of the tulip gardens don't open until mid-morning but you can find a lot of fields that can be shot from the roads by just driving around. I like to go early in the morning for sunrise photos and then I go to some of the gardens once they open. These gardens all have entrance fees.
