Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken in my kitchen, while I was peeling a mountain of apples. To take away from the boredom of the job, the thought struck me that I could possibly do a 'Still life' of them. Gathering up a few bits and pieces, and also because I happened to have Apple juice in the fridge, I was able to put this image together.

Time

In the afternoon, although time of day isn't really an issue here as any time with the right lighting is fine with Still Life shots.

Lighting

Mostly a very simple desk light, hand held while using a remote on the camera itself

Equipment

Nikon D7000, tripod, 50ml lens

Inspiration

Peeling a mountain of fruit, and thinking of what else I could do with them. Plus the beauty I saw in each piece, their colours and detail, their smell, and sweetness. It just lead me on....

Editing

Very little, some sharpening, and contrast details

Feedback

Think creatively about a set up of various elements, leave space between varies items, make a story flow through the shot so that you capture some emotion in your work. A touch of red often helps capture peoples eye. Enjoy the experience, and once done go on and create more. Have fun along the way.
