Location
Chateauguay , Quebec, CanadaTime
Sundown, but a good hour before sunset.Lighting
Single source lighting without any bouncing with reflectors or fill flash. To be honest I simply didn't have a flash at the time as this was my very first model shoot ever , back in 1985 or so. Took my time in positioning Corrine at a perfect angle so that the sun brought attention to her beautiful face. The dark areas around her nose and lips accentuate her flawless features and makes the pure white of her beautiful eyes pop. She was a champ for not squinting her eyes at all.Equipment
Good old Nikon F with a 50mm manual focus of course. Back then I was still using my dad's very basic but high quality equipment.Inspiration
This photo was actually my first attempt at portraits, at a young age of 19, Corrine , the model, was 20 I think. Her breathtaking beauty was the inspiration.Editing
This is done right the good old-fashioned way without any modifications needed. In my camera bag
I have learned to work without any bag because it can become an obstacle that can end up making you miss a shot. Wildlife, at the races, even at weddings, I've always had proper pants with extra and large pockets and tube shaped cases for my lenses which attach to my belt. If you don't want to miss the shot, there's no time to be searching through a bag.Feedback
Taking a back to the basics approach to photography is always a good thing to do when your model is noticeably prettier than the norm. Keep things simple on the technical side and make more room for the human side which involves having a small discussion about what sort of shot you want to create with the model.
