Location
The photo was taken in a field very close to my home in Southern CaliforniaTime
This photo was taken on Jan 27th at 7:52am ......my favorite way to start my day!Lighting
Natural, beautiful sunlight......nothing else needed!Equipment
This shot was created with a Zeiss 24-70 on a Sony a7 using a Mefoto tripod.Inspiration
It was kind of a rainy day but was going to clear up by morning so I decided it may be a perfect opportunity for a beautiful sunrise. I went looking for something that would work for the foreground and came upon this tree. I was only hoping for a beautiful sunrise behind the tree but as the sun rose that morning I realized what a beautiful sunburst this tree would create.Editing
I always start in Lightroom and from there I may experiment with On1, Nik or Macphun software. I love to try different presets to get my creativity flowing. This photo really didn't need much, just basic adjustments in Lightroom and On1 with some clean up in photoshop. In my camera bag
My Sony a6000 or a7 (depending on how light I want to go) .....sometimes both. Usually my Zeiss 24-70, sony 55-210 telephoto lens and my Zeiss 2.8/50mm Macro lens.Feedback
Research your location and think about where you want your shot to be.....what do you want in the foreground. The sun goes up very quickly and you will only have so much time to set up your shot. You should also use a very small aperture ...f22 is best for capturing sunbursts but make sure you have a tripod as you will need a slower shutter speed to get enough light. Don't be afraid to experiment and take different shots. Take the photo that makes you happy and don't worry about trying to get the "perfect" shot. Have fun in post.....your creativity doesn't stop once you put down the camera.
