Wow. Perfectly saturated colors. To my eye anyway. Massive. Simple. Humans add the really cool scale touch. Great shot!

Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in Namibia in Namib-Naukluft National Park, where one can see some of the biggest sand dunes in the world.

Time

Early morning.

Lighting

Basically, for this kind of images, it is best to shoot during early morning, or near sunset. The colours are warmest and the sideways light produces nice dramatic shadows.

Equipment

This shot was taken with Nikon D7000, Sigma 50 to 500 zoom with polarizer, hand held.

Inspiration

Beauty of the scenery.

Editing

Only basic optimization in Photoshop, I shoot raw, so Photoshop is necessary.

In my camera bag

Two Nikon D7000, 12 - 24 Nikon zoom, 28 - 70 Nikon zoom, 50 - 500 Sigma zoom, 105mm Nikon Micro, Nikon flash and polarizers for each lens.

Feedback

Get up early to take advantage of early morning light. Don't rush, places like Namib- Naukluft are so beautiful, everywhere you look you see amazing scenery. Since there is never enough time to shoot everything, focus on the few most appealing parts of the park.
