Location
This photo was taken at the most beautiful and romantic city Venice in Italy. It was taken from a bridge named ponte dell'accademia which is a very famous spot in Venice.Time
This is my best image of Venice. Me and my friend went very early before the sunrise so that we have enough time to prepare for the dawn. I have seen many sunrise shots of venice. So we went there around 4 AM in the morning and walked to the bridge and prepared our gear and waited for Mother Nature to show her beauty.Lighting
When we arrived at the place I was really upset as there were absolutely no cloud on the sky. So I thought it will be a pretty boring sunrise. But I should have trusted Mother Nature. She never disappoints anybody. When the time came the sky was full of orange glow and and some boats movement on the canal. If you want to see the best part of Venice, go during the sunrise. I can bet nothing can be more beautiful than that.Equipment
I used a Canon 6D camera with a 17-40 f4 L canon lens. The camera was mounted on a Manfrotto tripod so that I can take a long exposure shot without any trouble. I used a Lee Polarizer to get the color boost and also a Lee Big Stopper filter for a longer exposure shot. Also I used a cable release to avoid any camera shake.Inspiration
I am a cosmologist (or wanna be cosmologist) by profession. So I already see the world differently from others. Photography helped me more to look at things differently. It always inspires me to find new place and explore the beautiful world. It is not my profession, but a hobby and passion. I am inspired from many landscape photographers like Marc Adamus, Max Rive, Miles Morgan, Ted Gore, Michael Shainblum, Ryan Dyar and many more. I always follow their work and learn new things.Editing
Of course I did, I like to do post process. In my opinion without proper post processing digital photography is impossible. Our camera doesn't see things like our eyes. Our eyes can capture all the dynamic range easily whereas camera can capture very few. Though modern cameras are really good in terms of dynamic range. I always shoot in raw. Raw images are like the film of old cameras. They need to be processed. So in order to get the full dynamic range I always use Tony Kuyper's Luminosity masks available online to buy. It is an amazing tool for landscape and nature photographers. I blended several exposures for several part of the images. Then I used Photoshop CC to make necessary color correction, tonal adjustment, contrast etc. Overall this is my workflow for most of my images. In my camera bag
Beside my camera, filters, tripod and lenses I generally carry a flashlight and some foods and water.Feedback
The formula is simple. Push your limits far and explore as many places as you can. If you want to do landscape or nature photography if you have to work hard. Dusk and Dawn are the best times to take photos. But one can make good photos in flat daylight as well. You have to look into things differently from others. Remember whatever you are capturing is wrong, there is something better than yours. Think about the composition, framing, lighting everything. Spend a good amount of time to learn post processing as well. Which is very necessary.
