Location
Photo was taken in a sunflower farm in Takhli, Thailand on December 12 2014. Was still learning the features of my relatively new Nikon D810.Time
I was visiting my wife's home town and she had told me about the Sunflower farms, it was 4.30 in the afternoon and we were on our way back to her mothers home.Lighting
It was a typical warm Thailand afternoon and I chose a location with the sun behind me to get the best light directly onto the sunflower.Equipment
I was using my Nikon D810 with Nikkor 24mm - 120mm lens, hand held.Inspiration
I was testing out how clear and sharp my new Nikon D810 photos could turn out so wanted to get up close to the sunflower and i was practising depth of field settings.Editing
I did make some adjustments to the sky but the photo was taken in jpeg format so the full range of adjustments was not available. No other adjustments were made.In my camera bag
My Nikkor 50mm 1:1.4G lens is always in my camera bag along with my Nikkor 24mm - 120mm 1:4G wide angle lens and Nikon D810. I alternate my Micro Nikkor 105mm 1:2.8G lens with my Sigma 50-500mm 1:4.5-6.3 lens depending on what i am shooting. My Nikon SB-800 speedlight is always in my bag also.Feedback
The right time of day is important to get the right temperature of light, morning or late afternoon. Use a bigger aperture to limit the depth of field so the main subjects stands out.
