Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken on Princeton University campus in New Jersey.

Time

It was about 2 pm when we took this.

Lighting

There was some beautiful light coming through from the sun to the right. We used that and balanced the ambient with one flash behind our couple.

Equipment

Nikon d600, yongnuo 560 flash, yongnuo 560-tx controller.

Inspiration

The architecture of the Princeton campus is incredible. When we saw this hallway we knew we wanted to use it. At first, we were trying to do a natural light shot with the veil over the couples head. Then we thought we could make the couple stand out more in the image if we lit them.

Editing

For this image we did a little exposure adjustment and applied our custom B&W preset we built.

Feedback

When lighting your couple, expose for the background/ambient light to be about 2/3 underexposed. Then place your flash where you want it and power it up until it looks good on your subject.
