Schoenbrunn Village was settled in 1772 by David Zeisberger, a Moravian missionary, and is considered to be Ohio's first settlement. The village eventually included more than 60 dwellings, and reportedly the 300 or so residents - which included members of the Delaware Indians tribe and Moravian missionaries - built the first Christian church and schoolhouse in the Buckeye State. The village, near New Philadelphia, has been recreated and is open to the public.
