The Owls Head Lighthouse guards the entrance to Rockland Harbor on Western Penobscot Bay in Owls Head, Maine. It's short and squatty, but it stands high on a bluff next to a U.S. Coast Guard complex. The lighthouse was activated in 1926 and the light was automated in 1989.
