Behind The Lens

Location

In my back yard.

Time

It was taken in early afternoon

Lighting

I use 2 on-the-lens flashes (Nikon R1) which allows for greater depth of field and freezes the moment.

Equipment

The picture was handheld; camera was a Nikon D300; lens was a 105 micro with 3 extension tubes (68mm) and 2 flashes described earlier.

Inspiration

Just looking for a different way to shoot flowers.

Editing

Yes, I use Photoshop to crop, add contrast and sharpness, take out any highlight burnouts.

In my camera bag

Besides the camera equipment previously described, I carry a mist bottle and a knee pad. For this shot, I used a flexible clamp to hold the tendril in front of the flower.

Feedback

For drop pictures, I have a flexible clamp arm and either eyedropper or syringe with me. Try to find an interesting stem to put drops on.
