Behind The Lens

Location

In my kitchen in my house in Oxnard California.

Time

I believe this was taken about 10:00 am

Lighting

I have a sky light in my kitchen and wanted the light coming from above because I thought it would give the best light for a macro shot of the flower.

Equipment

I used my Nikon D7000, hand held with no flash. It was a brightly lit area from a cloud free sky coming thru the skylight. The only other equipment was a spray bottle for the water drops.

Inspiration

I was trying to use my macro and shoot this in different ways. This one I was trying to show the water drops from the spray bottle. I probably took about 25 pictures just to see the potential of my macro in this type of lighting.

Editing

No post processing other than Lightening the overall photo. It was just a little too dark. I tend to shoot a lot of my photos on the darker side because you can bring out more detail from the darker areas than the over white areas.

In my camera bag

For this shot I was at home and had all of my equipment available. I have many bags for different equipment. I have a backpack that carries 2 cameras and 5 lenses and 2 flashes with pockets for all of the extra things that are important like filters and cleaning supplies. I have a smaller bag that carries my camera with 3 lenses and filters that I take offroading and hiking. Both can carry my tripod. I have 2 more bags that one carrying my mono pods, lightstands, tripods and collapsed light boxes and umbrellas. The other bag carries reflectors and other things for studio type work.

Feedback

Experiment experiment experiment. I always look at trying to make mistakes to learn as often as I can. Out of those mistakes there is the one that accomplish what I had envisioned.
