Location
I took this photo in the financial district of Boston MA, which has a variety of high-rise building. I usually take photos on a Sunday morning when there is very little foot traffic, especially when I am taking photos this close to the front Entrance of the building. It is important not to block the entrance of the building and to make sure that you are on Public property, and since this entrance is on the sidewalk I was not on their property.Time
The photo was take on a Sunday morning to make sure that there was very little foot traffic and to make sure that I was not blocking the entrance of the building.Lighting
It was an overcast day which helps with even lightingEquipment
I used my Nikon D800 Full Frame camera with my Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 14-24mm f/2.8G ED Lens mounted on a Manfrotto Tripod and a Nikon right angle viewer.Inspiration
I enjoy taking architectural phots from the different perspective of below. Most people do not look straight up at a building the either see it from the street up a few floor or from a distance with other buildings. Also it is difficult to see a building in city streets and especially in Boston where the streets are narrow. The low view also helps to show the how powerfull these buildings are on the average pedestrian and enhance the fine detail that is overlooked at times.Editing
My post processing is consistent. I start with (5) HDR images then I process these in Photomatix, Then use lightroom to straighten/enhance/and color correct the photo. I then use Photoshop to do my editing, which includes Topaz Denoise and Topaz Sharpen features, then convert the image to black and white then use the B&W Artisan Pro add-on to adjust the image using light and dark selections. I then will usually either add my own clouds or use the cloud/motion/Gaussian blur feature to complete the imageIn my camera bag
I have my Nikon D800, Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 14-24mm f/2.8G ED Lens, Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 85mm 1.8 Lens, Nikon AF-S 50mm 1.8 lens.Feedback
Look for bold lines in architecture on both cloudy and sunny days, fine the correct angle to create a geometric shape and Accent the feature that best creates the image you had in mind
