Behind The Lens

Location

Took this in Yellow Stone National Park. I love Nature photography. Mountains, rivers, birds, animals etc. I happen to spot this wildlife photographer. He was a professional photographer shooting wildlife.

Time

it was early in the evening - a beautiful smmer evening for good photography. I like to photograph using natural light.

Lighting

Lighting was perfect. No harsh sunlight. I hardly use flash. I would rather use high ISO and reduce the noise later in post processing. Natural light is our best friend.

Equipment

I used Nikon D5500. Nikon DX AF 70-300 mm telephoto lens, a polorizing filter Platinum 58mm MC-CPL. I mostly use manual mode, F11, shutter speed 1/125 sec ISO160

Inspiration

I always look for photo opportunity. I photograph anything and every thing. I like portrait photography. I knew that he was a professional photographer. Look at his gear. I can never carry anything so heavy. There was this great photographer not too far from me. It was the right moment for me to capture him

Editing

Initially I use Olympus viewer 3 for adjusting tone, exposure, sharpness etc. Later I use photoshop. The original image was in color. I converted it to BW in photoshop.

In my camera bag

I have ruptured tendons. I had quite a few fractures. I carry only the camera. My good husband carries the bag. He ofter jokes saying that he is my caddy. My bag has Nikon lenses-- telephoto lens,macro lens and portrait lens, ND filters. lens cleaners etc. I use tripod for macrophotography and moon shots. I also have Olympus EPL5 and macroconcerter, and zoom lens

Feedback

I am not a professional photographer, never took any classes in photography. I am a self taught photographer. Seize the opportunity. Keep shooting with different settings. Digital cameras have made life easy for photographers You can take dozens of shots in the field and choose the right one later during post processing. Do not be afraid of using Photo editing tools. Never give up
