Location
I took this photo in Amsterdam (August 2017), from a bridge over Keizersgracht (Emperor's Canal).Time
My wife and I were outside looking for a place for our dinner when I saw this lovely scene with the last lights of the day (about 9 PM).Lighting
I was attracted by the mixture of different lights: the dusk colours of the sky, the street lamps, the lamps contouring the arches of the bridge, the illuminated windows, and the colours of the water, reflecting all these lights.Equipment
This was shot with Nikon D750 with an old lens (Nikkor Ai 105mm f2.5). No tripod involved.Inspiration
Amsterdam, like any other city with canals (first of all Venezia), has a sort of magic. I tried to take a bit of this magic with me.Editing
I developed my raw file using Lightroom: a bit of cropping and some adjustments (light, contrast and white balance). In my camera bag
In 2017 I took with me basic equipment: Nikon D750 plus two old lenses (Nikkor Ai 105mm f2.5 and Nikkor Ai 20mm f2.8). In 2020 I have the camera body, but with two new lenses: Irix 15mm f2.4 and Sigma 24-105 f4.0).Feedback
Using the golden hour and the blue hour is not a piece of great advice, because every photographer knows it, but it really works.
