Location
This photo was taken just a few miles out town of my home city of North Bay, Ontario; on an abandoned bridge that was once used by coal trains. I always had a fascination with forgotten places that have been taken back by nature, they always give off a sense of mystery, like a story that hasn't been told in a very long time.Time
I really enjoyed this day. I woke up around 6am and traveled out of the city with another photographer friend(Campbell Leavitt), who showed me this spot. We spent a good three or four hours out there, exploring and seeing what we could find. In the end, the most interesting compositions were just below my feet!Lighting
All natural, the day started with a beautiful, thick fog which gave it a perfect diffusion.Equipment
I used my Canon 5D mk3 with a 24-105mm F4.0 , nothing else was necessary.Inspiration
During my hike, I came across this bridge overlooking a creek. I was very fascinated in the depth of the drop between the gaps of wood and wanted to see if I could capture it in camera.Editing
Most of the Raw image is there ( I like to do most of my tweeks in camera) the only editing I did do was a bit of color correction in the trees to give them a more deep green. I wanted the focus to be on my foot and then the enormous drop off.In my camera bag
I like to keep a light load in my kit, so I usually keep a spare battery, my 70-310mm lens on back up (in case I want to get a macro shot), a Rode shotgun mic, for video purposes and a handful of SD cards.Feedback
Trust you eye and use your camera training. Above all else try to tell a story with your images, creativity is a strong key to making an image special.
