Location
This is a photo of Boscombe Pier near Bournemouth in the UKTime
I was on my way home from work on a cold and cloudy November afternoon and took the opportunity to shoot the pier when there were very few people around.Lighting
As usual with landscape photography, it was more about waiting for a glimpse of sunshine through the clouds... patients was rewarded with a lovely pool of light just in front of the structureEquipment
This was made using an old Cannon 450D with a cannon wide angle 10-22mm lens, tripod and remote shutterInspiration
I wanted to give the impression of depth in the shot. The fantastic textures in the flooring and the parallel lines running all the way to a single spot on the horizon was just so appealing.Editing
I just added a crop and a little dodge in one small area of cloud. In my camera bag
My bag is packed mainly for long exposure seascapes and architectural work. I have my Cannon 5DMK 3, my favourite lens the EF 17-40mm, EF 24 - 105, a selection of Firecrest ND and Lee Filters Big Stopper, 1.2 ND and circular polariser. I use a Manfrotto tripod and head.Feedback
As with all shots, plan your shoot carefully, go at various times of the day and various seasons (it may take a few trips to get it right) and then just take your time composing the shot. In images like this with so many converging lines. if you are slightly out On your composition then the effect is lost. Always remember that this is fun!
