For my last trip to NYC, I had made the newly-opened One-World-Trade Observation Deck a priority. I chose an evening time just before sunset for what I'd hoped was the best photo opportunities, and stayed at the top until nearly closing time. In all that time, however, I didn't feel particularly strongly about any one my shots from up there. The level was just too high for most of the city, and the sunset itself was rather lackluster. As I passed through the doors into a wide, sweeping vista of white columns over white marble, I choked on my breath. I knew my shot was here in the basement, rather than the top. There was a lone security guard walking around, and I asked him if he minded stepping between the columns on the left for a moment while I took a shot. He happily obliged, and I was thrilled. Then, as I was exiting, I looked over my head, and saw this second shot.
