Location
This was taken near my place of summer employment at a summer camp in northern Minnesota near the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. This was shot right of the dock, and the opposite shoreline is the wilderness boundary.Time
This was taken in the evening to help give the golden colors of the sky and water and low contrast between the lake and shoreline.Lighting
This is all natural lighting. With the time being later in the day, the canoe matched the exposure level of the lake and sky without clipping any shadows or highlights.Equipment
This was shot on a Canon 6D with an old Canon 20-35mm F2.8 L, a 10-stop ND filter, on a Manfrotto Befree Trpod that was tied into the very tippy canoe by some rope help secure it. The canoe is a Northwind Magic solo canoe.Inspiration
I love canoeing. I've worked as a counselor and guide in the Boundary Waters for nine year now. This wilderness is what turned on my passion for photography.Editing
Post processing for this image is mostly color balance and some toning. In my camera bag
I usually have my photo equipment in my Lowe Pro watertight bag. It has saved my camera (and passport) multiple times from an overturned canoe. My camera is usually my Canon 6D with a Canon 20-35 F2.8 L, Canon 80-200 F2.8 L, and an Irix 15m F2.4. A 10-stop ND filter and an intervalometer are also in my bag along with an extra battery and a power bank on longer trips.Feedback
This was a part of a series I did with the idea of motion blur. I just wracked my brain for a few weeks to think of things that can have motion blur become part of the image.
