Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken at Satao elerai camp in Amboseli. It was my first visit to Kenya and had just sat down for lunch . I looked down to the valley I could see a herd of elephants walking towards the watering hole below in the valley . I was mesmerized by the sight of these magnificent beasts with the dust rising behind them

Time

This was during lunch time at the camp

Lighting

The whole scene was magical with the dust rising behind them

Equipment

Nikon D500 with the 400 mm f2.8 nikkor lens

Inspiration

I wanted to capture the moment when I first saw the African elephants

Editing

I have colour corrected the image and enhanced the sense of drama already in the image

In my camera bag

At the time of the image it was the Nikon D7000 with the sigma wide angle lens

Feedback

It’s about enjoying every moment and when a moment feels special to me I capture it
