This photo was taken right outside of my town of Green River, Wyoming. It is the Wild Horse Loop that goes between Rock Springs and Green River.Time
This is one of my favorite shots. I was out looking for wild horses, and just when I was giving up and turning around to go home, I see this sunset. I just had to capture the beauty of a Wyoming sunset in the back roads.Lighting
I wanted to show my viewers what a spectacular sunset that Wyoming can get. In order to get it exposed correctly, I had to combine two separate pictures in photoshop. In the first (top) picture I exposed for the sky, but the road was too dark to see. In the second (bottom) picture I exposed for the road, making the sky too bright and lacking the vibrance and depth I wanted to show. Once I put the two pictures together, I realized, "this is it. This is my picture."Equipment
I shot this photo with my Canon rebel T6i probably with my 18-55 mm f/3.5-4.6 lens. No tripod or flash was used, but was carried with me just in case.Inspiration
I was driving along the dirt road looking for wild horses and gave up. As soon as I turned around, I saw this sunset with the perfect clouds over top with the vibrant colors and just had to take the two pictures.Editing
I definitely had some post processing. Two different pictures with different exposures were combined together. After that, I enhanced colors and that was about it!In my camera bag
I always have my Canon Rebel t6i and Canon 20d with all my lenses: 18-55 mm, 75-300 mm, 50 mm f/1.8, 55-250 mm, and 10-18 mm. I also have a tripod, a flash, macro lenses, and color filters.Feedback
Wyoming is a hard place to be. Most of the animals are dangerous and can probably kill you. Be careful and aware of what is around you, and take your time. If what you see on your screen is not what you want, take another picture. The digital world is great that way; if you don't like a photo, delete it and try again. Be patient, ask for help if needed, be careful, and shoot away!
