Location
The photo was taken in Portland Oregon on Savie Island, a wildlife reserve is located here, so there is a lot to shoot.Time
We were getting near the end of a quite hopeless day in a new area we had heard about.we had driven to the end of the road with very few sightings and what we did find was to far away. when we came around a corner and seen a lot of parked cars, and seen all the photographers. We had about a half hour of daylight left when i captured this moment of excitement. It was on January 25, 2016 at 5 pmLighting
while doing wildlife photography you can not really pick your lighting, i was lucky to get it with the sun low in the sky, giving it the tinge of yellow.Equipment
at the time of this shot i was using mt Nikon D7100 at 400 iso at f8 at a speed of 1/1000 of a second i used a Tamron 150 - 600 G1 at 600 mm , and we were using a tripod at the time .Inspiration
This eagle had been perched on the top of the tree for quite some time and was needing to readjust his perch for more comfort. I love to get a good shot of these eagles and when one is willing to pose i will get all the shots of it that i can.Editing
i use light room to do my post in i removed some shadows ,removed some light, added some clarity and vibrance and did some sharpening . I also cropped the image as wellIn my camera bag
At this time i carried with me a Niklon D7100 with a 150 - 600 mm Tamron G1 ,i also keep a 78 - 200 sigma 2.8 ,and a 18 -55 mm Nikon kit lens. i usuallu have a tripod and monopod with me and use a wireless remote as well.Feedback
i find if i hit the road and just keep a active lookout til i find a subject ,i find a slow movement and lots of patients pays off the most . If i stick around long enough i can become part of the landscape and the birds and animals start to relax and go about there daily lives, Thats when the magic begins.
