Behind The Lens

Location

On a mountain near my hometown. I often photograph natural places where I grew up.

Time

I perfectly remember the day I took this photo despite some time having passed. It was a day shrouded in beautiful thick fog. The shot was made around 12 in the morning.

Lighting

I love taking pictures using natural light like I did for this shot. The sky full of clouds and the intense fog helped me to highlight the magical and mysterious aspect of this scene.

Equipment

The photograph was taken hand-held with my canon 70d using a wide angle lens.

Inspiration

I love nature and especially the forest. I love the fog and the atmosphere full of mystery. So this shot was inspired by the desire to enclose both elements in a single image.

Editing

The post process is an essential phase of my photographs. It allows me to add my personal vision to the image I took. In this shot I worked mainly on colors, using curves.

In my camera bag

What definitely can't miss in my camera bag is my Canon 70D with which I started with and which I have no intention of ever giving up despite also having a full frame body. Then my range of Canon lenses able to cover all the focal lengths that interest me from 11 to 300 mm. Last but not least the rain protection kit to save my camera from water and salt. Especially useful when I go to photograph the waves.

Feedback

My advice is to study the environment and the light that surround the shooting scene. I also believe it is essential to follow and understand the weather. Very often I don't shoot even if I feel like it because the ambient light is not good enough...
