Behind The Lens
Location
At Glen Innes,a suburb in Auckland. The Tamaki river is in the backgroundTime
Mornings before work I stop next to the Tamaki river, trying a different place every time. This morning was special, the mist just cleared and the sun was getting stronger. I Ichanged position to bloke the sun and waited for the cyclist to be in the right position.Lighting
Backlighting was used. I block the sun with the tree trunk and use al small apeture to create the star effect. The early morning mist was disappearing, but there was enough to make the atmosphere hazy and create a soft golden glow.Equipment
I use a Canon 600D and a 24-105mm lens.I always have this camera with me in the car. Weekends and some evening I use the Canon 5D Mark3, Canon 750D and a Phantom Drone.Inspiration
Morning you will find me next to water. If there is magic in life, it must be in waterEditing
I hand blended three exposures using luminosity masks. In my camera bag
Lately I have bought a Lee filter set . Love the Big stopper. I am using three Canon cameras on three Manfrotto tripods. One is using for bracketing. one camera is use for long exposure and one camera is equipped with a 70-200mm lens to capture detail in the landscape. Weekend the drone is in the air as well but it keep flying away because I am not good at multitaskingFeedback
Many mornings I get up early and go out and come home empty handed [or empty camera]. However, just out in nature meeting the day is worth it.Some mornings is just magic and very special. I use the non magic days to practice camera technique, fine tune composition and look for better viewpoints so when the magic moment arrive, I don't mess it up.
